A Plethora Of Unique Tragus Piercing Jewelry

Admit it. You clicked on this article because you don’t even know what a tragus is, or that you could pierce it, and you half thought it might be a naughty part and you wanted pictures. Well, don’t be embarrassed, because we didn’t know what it was either at first, or that it could be pierced, since it sounds kind of like it could be a naughty part but it also sounds like it could be a plane part. We wrote this article specifically for you, and to tell you where you can get the best jewelry for your tragus.

Because it isn’t part of a plane. It’s part of your ear.

In anatomy, according to the Oxford Dictionary, it’s defined as the “prominence on the inner side of the external ear, in front of and partly closing the passage to the organs of hearing”, but we just call it the “little nubby thing over the ear hole”. Basically, it’s the thing that nature gave you to make sure your earbuds stay in. We might just be guessing on that part. We don’t know, we aren’t doctors. The point is, it’s a pretty cool little nub, made even cooler by the fact you can stick pretty jewelry through it, after you get it pierced.
And where is one of the best places to get it pierced? There are a couple, but the best one we found, Venus by Maria Tash, can both pierce and supply the jewelry for this specific part of the ear. This is important, because not all piercing parlors necessarily carry jewelry for every piercing, and some, like us, don’t even know how to pierce this part properly. It’s not like the earlobe where you can just pull out a sewing needle and an ice cube and hope the 11-year-old wielding them knows what she’s doing. It hurts, and it can get infected if you’re not careful. Venus, the place we found, is run by Maria Tash, a piercing expert of 20 years who’s known for using only the safest and most hygienic piercing practices, only using a freaking autoclave for cleaning her equipment.

Also, there’s the tragus specific jewelry you can get at Venus by Maria Tash, which looks awesome and is made with only the highest quality metals and gems, and comes in a variety of designs that reflect not just Western-style pieces, but pieces that reflect beauty from all kinds of different cultures. And while there are other places that sell tragus jewelry and technically you can use non-tragus specific jewelry for a tragus piercing, the difference in Maria’s jewelry is that it all employs features that make it better for tragus piercing, like the thread screw back. Basically, you can screw your jewelry’s front to its back, meaning there’s less chance of the backs coming off and falling into your ear hole and deafening you. We’re kidding-that doesn’t happen.
